Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) (LTE Cat-NB1), features low power, long range, low cost, will grow exponentially during the next 5 years. In this presentation, the characteristics of NB-IoT will be introduced and compared with other similar protocols used for IoT application. A transceiver architecture will be proposed to fit the requirement of NB-IoT and the circuit block including ADPLL, digital transmitter, low noise receiver will be described. All three mobile operators in China have committed the adoption of NB-IoT and their adoption plan, current pilot projects will be introduced.
