National Level Symposium on “Advancements in Smart Technology and Application” (AISTA)
The IEEE Student Branch 62851 of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering conducted the National Level Symposium on “Advancements in Smart Technology and Application” (AISTA) on 17th March 2017 at the Seminar Hall of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering. The event was organized by IEEE Education Society Student Branch Chapter 62851 under the guidance of IEEE Student Branch Coordinator Prof. A. Darwin Jose Raju, IEEE Student Branch Counsellor Prof. J. Bright Jose and Faculty Advisor of IEEE Education Society StBC, Dr. C. Seldev Christopher and IEEE WIE StB AG Faculty Advisor Prof. A. Subitha, and sponsored by IEEE Madras Section and IEEE Education Society, Madras Section. 88delegates from SXCCE and 18 students from 5 other colleges participated in the symposium.
The Symposium Inauguration was started with the IEEE Code of Ethics which was read by Mr. Arunkumar, Chairman, IEEE Student Branch followed by Welcome Address by Prof. Darwin Jose Raju. Prof. J. Bright Jose introduced the Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Selestin K Thomas, Global IT Director, McFadyen, Technopark, Trivandrum.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Selestin K Thomas explained about Digital Transformation and its opportunities. Under this topic, he explained the Future of Clouding, Network Realization, Transformation happenings in Network, Digital Transformation in Enterprises, Internet of Things, Ransomware and so on. From his session, the participants got a clear idea on Digital Transformation and its vast opportunities in various fields. The Inaugural Session came to an end with the College Anthem
Various competitions like Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Poster Design, Idea Presentation and Photography Contest started at various venues in parallel. In the mean time, Dr. C. Seldev Christopher gave a session on “Application of Fuzzy Logic in Day-to-Day Life” followed by another session on “Getting Started with Arduino” handled by Mr. J. G. Benny Jackson, Treasurer, IEEE Education Society Student Branch Chapter- 62851.
The Valedictory Session started with a Prayer Song. The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Ceremony was Mr. P. R. Vishnu, Test Engineer, Infosys Ltd., Chennai. He was the Former Treasurer of IEEE Student Branch. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mrs. A. Subitha, Faculty Advisor of IEEE StB WIE AG. The report on symposium was read by Dr. C. Seldev Christopher, Faculty Advisor, IEEE Education Society StBC. Ms. Kavyashree Prakashan gave a brief introduction about the Chief Guest, Mr. P. R. Vishnu.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. P. R. Vishnu explained the opportunities IEEE provides to an individual and the role of IEEE in his life. He gave an idea on how IEEE helps to shape each individual in a productive way. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Correspondent, Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Maria William. He insisted on the importance of ‘Bridging Technology, Network and Binary’ and also explained its importance relating to real life examples. The event was felicitated by the Principal, Dr. S. Joseph Sekhar and the Bursar, Rev. Fr. P. Benziger. Cash Prizes worth Rs. 9000 and certificates were distributed to the winners of various competitions. The function ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. D. Jeffry Jacob, Vice Chairman, IEEE Education Society Student Branch Chapter 62851 followed by National Anthem.
The IEEE StB 62851 would like to thank the Coordinators of the symposium, Mr. D. Jeffry Jacob, Vice Chairman, IEEE EduSoc StBC and Ms. Kavyashree Prakashan, Joint Secretary, IEEE EduSoc StBC, the IEEE StB Coordinator, the IEEE StB counsellor, the Faculty Advisor of IEEE EduSoc StBC and the volunteers for the efforts in making this event a grand success.
