Industrial Visit BISAG, Gandhinagar
IAS-PES JOINT CHAPTER, IEEE GCET SB
Introduction
IAS-PES Joint Chapter, IEEE GCET SB arranged an industrial visit to BISAG, Gandhinagar on 15th February, 2018 for 6th semester E.C students .They were accompanied by Dr. Bhaskar Thakkar and Prof. Mayank Aardheshna.
The event was scheduled from 08:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
The visit was voluntarily supported by IEEE GCET student branch.
BISAG
The trip started at 8:30 AM and they were on their way to BISAG, Gandhiagar. They reached at 10:30 AM. They were accompanied by Dr. Bhaskar Thakkar and Prof. Mayank Ardeshna. Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Application and Geo-Informatics generally known as BISAG is a state level nodal agency to facilitate the use of spatial technologies for the planning and development activities penetrating to Agriculture. As soon as the students reached the campus they were given general instructions that they need to follow during the visit. Then they were directed towards the recording room. Recording room was soundproof with sound absorber. There they were made to watch a video. These video dealt with process of ISRO launching a satellite in space.
Then this was followed by detailed discussion for the same. They were informed that in order to achieve high accuracy in placing satellites into their orbits, a combination of accuracy, efficiency, power and immaculate planning are required. ISRO's Launch Vehicle Programme spans numerous centres and employs over 5,000 people. BISAG have been helping ISRO.
They acquainted students about BISAG’s role in helping ISRO. BISAG offers various courses for students. It is a center of excellence in Geo-informatics Research and Development as well as applications. They informed that their Institute is also providing job training for project work to the students studying in final year in various disciplines viz. B.E. (CE/IT), MCA, Ph.D etc. The institute organizes workshops/training on applications of remote sensing and GIS for various state departments viz. SPIPA/R&B department, academic institutions etc. They also encouraged students to come with new and innovative ideas and they will be more than happy to help them. And this is also free of cost, they just have go through certain procedures for the same.
Postliminary, the students acknowledged the officials there to offer them such a great opportunity. Subsequently, they left BISAG at 2:20 PM to reach Vallabh Vidyanagar at 7:00 PM.
