INTRODUCTION:

IAS-PES Joint Chapter, IEEE GCET SB arranged an industrial visit to Aimtron and Prolific on 10th February, 2018 for 4th semester E.C students. They were accompanied by Dr. Hitesh B Shah, Prof. Parthesh Mankodi & Prof. Rohit Parmar.

The event was scheduled form:

8:45 AM to 7:00 PM

The visit was voluntarily supported by IEEE student branch.

AIMTRON:

The trip started at 8:45 AM and students were on their way to Aimtron located in Vadodara. They reached at 10:25 AM.

When they reached the campus, they were escorted to AV room. Then Mr Narayan Parmar, Director of Aimtron addressed them and introduced the students to their team. Postliminary a presentation was arranged which was conducted by one of the employee. The presentation started with a bit of introduction about the Aimtron and which was followed by the guidelines of making and designing of PCB. It was informed to the students that Aimtron offers expert services for PCB assembly, particularly with assemblies requiring quick turn prototyping, BGA expertise and high volume PCB Assembly. Its main headquarter is located in Palatine, Illinois. They mainly sell their products in U.S.A and China.

Down streaming to this a detailed information was given about PCB designing which was, PCB designing includes three steps. First being SMD assembly in which the components are placed on layers. Second is THT assembly in which components having lead are inserted in the holes. And the final step is checking of PCB.

Post this presentation students were bifurcated into two groups. Each group took a tour of industry. They were guided by one of their official. During this tour students witnessed the SMD assembling, which was done manually and also with the help of automation. The company provides 99.99% lead free PCB. Subsequently a brief introduction was given about the latest technologies they were using for PCB designing. Aimtron used Automated Optical Inspection, where X-rays are used to automatically inspect the components that are hidden from sight.

This was succeeded by a one hour interaction session which was conducted by Mrs Ekta. She discussed the current scenario of Electronic and Communication based industry in the country and the growing job opportunity in the same field due to “Make in India” movement. This tour ended at 2:00 PM.

PROLIFIC:

Students reached “Prolific institute” situated in Vadodara at 4:00 PM. There again students were bifurcated into 4 groups. Each group was pitched simultaneously about their institute. It provides widest range of training programmes like plant intelligence solution, industrial automation, PLC’s, SCADA’s and many more. Then officials preceded with their teaching session which was arranged. They started with PLC’s, programmable logic circuits for the first and second group. Parallel to that embedded system for the third and fourth group. They informed that embedded technology is now on its prime and the wealth available is mind-blowing.

Then there was an exhibition on automation projects. In this exhibition they had 4 projects for the display. It helped the students to relate that how control system such as computer or robots, and information technologies can be used for handling different processes without human supervision. Postliminary to this exhibition at 5:45PM, students expressed their gratitude to the officials for the opportunity given. Students headed back to GCET and were back at 7:00PM.
