IEEE WIE Engineering Day at Polished Pebbles
IEEE Women in Engineering is excited to have an engineering day to bring an inside look at the filed of engineering to the girls at Polished Pebbles ages 7-17 years old. Polished Pebbles is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring girls in a diverse verity of professions. Their Second Saturdays mentoring program in April is going to be about engineering which is hosted by IEEE WIE.
This event is a part of IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program which was developed to address the growing concern that at a young age, girls are discouraged from careers in mathematics, science, and engineering.

Lauren White
Introduction to Engineering
Biography:
Lauren White has a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and she is currently working as a System Engineer at Cisco Systems. Lauren is also a professional communicator of technology and experiences . Motivational speaking and seeing more people , especially women, grow in technology is something that Lauren holds near to her heart. She is very passionate about making a difference and impacting those around her, whether it be those within her personal community, or greater tech community.

- 10:50am-11:30AM: Hands-on Workshop with the girls and volunteers using "Electronics Snap Circuits" kits from public libraries.
