IEEE - Value to You
This talk outlines various aspects of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers or IEEE, including what the IEEE is, a very brief history, its local organization, technical chapters, conferences, joining up, and its costs. The main aim of this talk is to explain the benefits of IEEE to you as a student, an academic or an industry member.
Biography:
Alan received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Latrobe University. He has been a faculty member at RMIT since 1977, and he has more than 40 years’ experience in various control and electronics industries, including Amcor, BP Australia, and BP UK. He has been an IEEE member since 1987, chaired the IEEE circuits and systems technical chapter, edited IEEE news and Uplink, and chaired the IEEE Victorian Section.

Alireza Jolfaei of Federation University Australia

Biography:
Alireza received the Ph.D. degree in applied cryptography from Griffith University. He is currently a Lecturer of Networking and Security in the School of Engineering and Information Technology at Federation University Australia. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is currently serving as the Chair of Computational Intelligence Society in IEEE Victoria Section. He is a member of the Internet Commerce Security Laboratory (ICSL) and the Centre for Informatics and Applied Optimization (CIAO) at Federation University Australia.
