IEEE SIGHT University ,UP Section , IEEE PES & IEEE WIE chapters of IEEE Student Branch , I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida has hosted a DST & AKTU Sponsored IEEE International Seminar on “Smart Technologies for Smart City” during April 19-20, 2018.
The auspicious occasion was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony by Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri Krishna Kumar Gupta, (IAS), Additional CEO, GNIDA, Distinguished Keynote Speakers-Dr. Tapan Gandhi, IIT Delhi, Dr. Dilip Sharma, Convenor-IEEE SIGHT, UP-Section, Dr. Ashish Kumar, MNIT Allahabad , Mr. Raunaque Mujeeb Quaiser – ST Microelectronics, Greater Noida, Mr. Piyush Chandra Ojha, V.P. -CABCON, India , Dr. Vikash Singh , Executive Director , I.T.S Group of Education, Dr. Gagandeep Arora –Dean Academics , Dr. Sanjay Yadav , Dean Student Welfare in presence of HOD’s, faculty members , students and scholars from premier institutions.
General Chair, Dr. Monika Jain, has presented the objectives and program highlights of STechSCity-2018.
Honorable Executive Director-Dr. Vikas Singh has delivered a welcome address to Chief Guest, & Eminent Speakers. He has highlighted the key concept of Smart City by highlighting the features of India’s First Smart City “GIFT City” of Ahmadabad .He said this rapid development will not only transform every ones life for betterment it will also give a huge opportunity for innovations, research and ideas to face the challenges in technological transformation into reality.
In the felicitation speech, Guest of Honor, Dr. Tapan Gandhi, Professor, IITD has highlighted that Mission of Smart City will be possible with “PPP”- People, Policis & Productivity
In the Inaugural Talk, Chief Guest, Shri K.K Gupta ji has highlighted that India is remembered by all as the country of “Mother of Innovations from all aspects since ancient days. He said it is developing in all terms from Education system till Technology Development in last 70 Years of Independence. He highlighted the Government supports and initiatives in this regard mentioning the hon’ble prime ministers vision of Smart City. He Said, to develop a Smart City, “People have to build a right Attitude & Attribute” which will lead to its success automatically. Giving the alarming signal to Young Engineers, he said through you; we are seeing the dream of “Sunehre Bhavishya of Sunehre Bharat” – hence not run behind anything just to grab a good job rather we should take inspiration from Great Scientist’s biography like Dr, APJ Abdul Kalam in building our personality through their sacrifices & struggles of life and should learn to be a good human being with noble aim and attitude. He also has urged that Nature has given us few gifts at no cost, without whom we cannot think to survive, In return Nature only wants, it is to be enjoyed not to be destroyed. Hence we all have to work together to protect the entire environment & its resources for future.
Inaugural session was followed by other Keynote and Plenary sessions covered on Smart City Vertical Application such as Smart Grid, Smart Health, Smart Building Management Systems, Enterprise IoT, Smart Lighting, Big Data Analytics and many more smart technologies by Experts as follows- “Technologies Driving Smart Cities” by Dr. Tapan Gandhi, "The Role of Smart Data and Big Data Technology in Smart City" by Prof. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Convener- IEEE SIGHT, UP Section, "Smart City & Smart Technologies: Drivers & Barriers " , Prof. Asheesh Singh , MNIT Allahabad & "Micro Grid Infrastucture for Smart City" by Mr Piyush Ojha, Vice President, CABCON Pvt. Ltd. Thus day 1 Program ended with a vote of Thanks presentation by Dr. Monika Jain, General Chair.
On Day 2 of STechSCity -2018,
the program started with a welcome address to Guest of honor Mr. Raunaque Mujeeb Quaiser, Sr. Mgr (System Lab), STMicroelectronics, Mr. Vikash Chandra, CEO & Founder- TEN Systems & Services Pvt. Ltd., Prof. Monika Jain, Head of EEE & Delegates from Industry & Academia.
Mr. Raunaque has delivered the plenary session on “ST Technologies enabling Smart Cities” which emphasized on the need for Smart Cities in today scenario. Also highlighted how Smart cities are helping citizens of the country worldwide in their day to day living by enabling Smart Energy Management, smart traffic control, smart waste management , Smart driving System ,Smart IoT Applications though low energy & cost effective wireless communication systems etc. He has given the insight of technologies that Smart city is going to enable in next few years for data or information communication through Sixfog, Zigbee, 5G, 6LowWPAN, Sub-GHZ kind of wireless communication systems. Mr. Mujeeb has demonstrated some products & different tools offered by STMicroelectronics to build Smart City solution.
In the next Plenary Session, Mr. Chandra has delivered the Talk on “Smart Cities from a Regional Planning Perspective: How to turn around the exploitative systems to symbiotic one”. He redefined “the need of a Smart City from a very holistic perspective relating to ancient concept of “Pancha Tatva- Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu & Aakash”. He highlighted how each element of this rejuvenates each on of us in building the inner strength to think higher and do better for the society. He highlighted, only being obsessed with technologies we cannot create a Smart City , rather the mission of Smart City for better life will be possible only when we human will develop “Noble Shwadeshi Technologies creating minimum destruction to Nature” to protect the Pnacha Tatva which is the driving elements of whole universe.
Thus, the Two Day International Seminar concluded with a note of Vote of Thanks to all by Dr. Monika Jain , General Chair –StechScity.
