IEEE Life Members July meeting: tour of Tri-Service Research Laboratory (TSRL) at Fort Sam Houston
Tour of the Tri-Service Research Laboratory (TSRL) at Fort Sam Houston: The TSRL houses the leadership of the Bioeffects Division of the Airman Systems Directorate, 711th Human Performance Wing, Air Force Research Laboratory. The division has played a key role in understanding the effects of directed energy weapons for more than 50 years, starting with atomic bomb eye protection. The mission is to protect against and exploit the bioeffects of battlefield environmental stressors. Specific objectives of the division include preventing mission degradation due to toxic exposure and enabling our forces to function safely, effectively, and efficiently on the directed energy battlefield. The local branches in San Antonio are:
- Optical Radiation Bioeffects (RHDO)
- Radio Frequency Bioeffects (RHDR)
- Mission Support (RHDM)
- Veterinary Services (RHDV)

Will meet at La Fonda parking lot (8633 Crownhill Blvd. San Antonio TX 78209) and car pool to Fort Sam. Car pool drivers need a military ID. Tour begins at 10:15AM. Everyone will need a driver's license. Need a list of those attending by July 13: when signing up, also send jim.brakefield@ieee.org your name and citizenship (US or Canadian). After the tour, car pool back to La Fonda and have lunch.
