2-session workshop on IoT & Technical writing skills


The event was charted for one day which comprises of two sections which incorporate technical writing skills and IOT trends. Which is held at Alumni hall NSS College of Engineering on 4 August 2018 at 9:30 am. The morning section was started with the blessings of the Almighty by College Choir. The enlightenment of young minds was kick-started with the welcome speech by Dr. LeeshaPaul, counselor IEEE SB NSS College of Engineering. The key speaker, Prof.Vinod Balakrishnan, who is the professor of English in the Department of Humanities and Social Science at the National Institute of Technology, Thiruchirapally. He spoke about the importance. It was a useful section for the students. The morning section ceased at 12:30 pm.

After the lunch break, the afternoon section commenced at 2:00 pm.T he key speaker of this section was Mr.Sreekanth M, CEO of Kabani Tech, a Maker space/Product development Centre at Shornur, Palakkad. He explained about the importance of IOT in the future technology and the new innovations in IOT. It was a magnificent session. More than 135 students from different colleges of Palakkad attended the workshop. The program winded up at 4 pm with feedback from the audience.

Prof. Vinod Balakrishanan of NIT Trichy

Topic:

Technical Writing Skills

Vinod Balakrishnan is a Professor in English in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He is a practising poet, motivational speaker, reviewer of books and a yoga enthusiast. He earned his Ph.D in “Popular Fiction and the Use of History” from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. He was a Fellow at the School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University, New York in 2008.

Biography:

He is a recipient of a Bronze Medal for poetry by the National Library of Poetry, USA. His poems have been archived and widely anthologized. He is the author of Indian Classics in English Translation and has coauthored a book on Literary Theory. He is also the General Editor of the 12-Volume Encyclopaedia of World Mythology (2013) in Malayalam. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Creative Communications, Journal of Dharma, Pragmatism Today, Archiv Orientalni, a/b:auto/biography studies, LitCrit, Indian Literature, CIEFL Bulletin, Journal of English Language Teaching and Indian Express. His research interests include Somaesthetics, Politics of Representation, Film Studies, Life Writing and Narratives about India. Currently, he is working on “The Role of the Public Intellectual and the Future of the Humanities”.

Mr. Sreekanth M of Kabani Tech

Internet of Things

He is currently CEO of KabaniTech, a Maker space/ Product development Centre at Shoranur, Palakkad Dt. He has more than 20 years of learning in DIY Robotics/ electronics and 3 years of teaching experience. He was treasurer of IEEE RAS (Robotics & Automation Society) Kerala Chapter during the year 2015-16 and active member of Robotics Society of India (RSI). He has given invited talks at more than 25 Engineering Colleges on Robotics and IoT.    He have published 5 international conferences and one International Journal.

Biography:

 Completed his B.Tech (ECE) from Jyothi Engineering College, M.Tech (Signal Processing) from College of Engineering Trivandrum and currently pursuing Ph.D. at NIT Calicut on Bio-inspired Robots under Dr. Abraham T Mathew (EED) and Dr. R Vijayakumar (MED). His research includes sensorless control of artificial muscles based on shape memory alloys.






Agenda

The future revolves around the Internet of Things. Accompanying technology with writing skills, two extremes would benefit delegates in every possible true manner. We focus to give the students the fruit of both topics, hence enabling them to the betterment of their career.
