Dr Sudhindra Haldodderi of SJCE,MYSORE

Biography:

Sudhindra Haldodderi, till recently was a Consultant for the multi-national Aerospace Engineering Company Quest Global Engineering in its Rolls-Royce Off-Shore Development Centre. He started his engineering career at the prestigious DRDO as a Scientist and served for 22 years. He was Joint Director & Head of Knowledge Management Group of DRDO Lab CEMILAC. For a brief period he was a Deputy General Manager at HAL’s Design Department. During this period of 24 years, he served in the field of Aircraft Propulsion & Fuel System. He was responsible for the design, development, integration and flight-testing of critical mechanical systems of the aircraft. He has also taught aerospace engineering subjects at Private and Deemed Universities for seven years.

A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from UVCE and an M.Tech. in Turbo Machines from IIT-Madras, Chennai, Sri Sudhindra had a brief research stint of 2 years at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science.  Sri Sudhindra has several technical reports on the service issues of Aircraft & Helicopters operation in India. He has visited frontier air force bases of the country for testing of critical aircraft systems. He has also visited aircraft factories of USA, UK, Brazil, Russia and Germany for absorbing critical technologies.

He has received several awards for his contributions to DRDO which include ‘Cash Award for best performance’ from Chief Executive (1997), `National Science Day Medal & Citation’ from Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister (2002), ‘DRDO Technology Group Award’ consecutively in 2004 and 2005. He has been conferred with Kannada Vijnana Parishat Silver Jubilee Award - 2007 for his contribution towards popularizing Science. The Vision Group on Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka has conferred the `Best Science Communicator Award’ on him for the year 2010-11.

Sri Sudhindra is well known to the readers of Kannada newspapers through his regular columns on Science & Technology. The ‘Net Nota’, a weekly column of his is published in ‘Vijaya Karnataka’ since 2001. His first book on Internet ‘Internet emba Maayajaala’ published in April 2000 is considered as the first handbook in Kannada on internet. Besides he has three more published books in Kannada ‘BeLakindi’, ‘Makkaligaagi computer’ and ‘computer ellinda elliyavarege).  He has written more than 1300 articles in Kannada on Science & Technology. In addition, he also offers programmes on current Science to Radio and TV Channels. He has been a guest faculty to many engineering colleges.

He is associated with the Government of India’s DST as well as Government of Karnataka’s Vision Group programmes on bringing science to common people. Government of Karnataka has appointed him as a member of the ‘Karnataka Science and Technology Academy’ (KSTA).
