You may have already heard of the IEEE Presidents Forum being held on September 27th.  This is an opportunity for viewers to learn about the IEEE organization from the current and future leadership, ask questions, and discuss what IEEE does well or not so well.  IEEE leadership will speak and listen to the membership directly.  It is a unique opportunity to make your opinion heard.

The IEEE Black Hills Subsection holds regular monthly professional or technical meetings during the school year to keep our membership and future professionals connected with careers opportunities in our area.  The IEEE Presidents Forum is being physically held at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, but is being live-streamed globally from that location via IEEEtv.  The Black Hills Subsection will be hosting a “Watch Party” for this event at the Black Hills Energy corporate campus (aka Horizon Point), at 7001 Mt Rushmore Road in Rapid City, SD.  (See attached map for entrance details.)

Before the Presidents Forum video streaming begins, Black Hills Energy will be providing tours of its new campus to those interested, from 4:45-5:30pmPizza and soft drinks (and maybe homemade chocolate chip cookies) will follow from 5:30-6:00pm.  Opening comments by IEEE leadership will commence at 6:00pm, followed by Q&A which will continue until 9:00pm.  This is a unique opportunity for IEEE members and interested parties to interact directly with the leadership of the world’s largest professional organization.

You are strongly encouraged to visit http://www.ieeepresidentsforum.com prior to the day of the event to check out background information.  The most important feature of this event is the Q&A between the audience and the IEEE leadership.  Even if you are unable to participate from BHE’s Horizon Point campus or your own location, you can still submit questions in advance of the September 27th event.  Whether you will be attending in person at Fort Collins, at BHE’s Horizon Point campus or your own location, you are expected to register for the event with IEEE.

For food headcount and personnel security, everyone planning to come to the Horizon Point event is expected to RSVP to Bob.Case@blackhillscorp.com, Marvin.Geersen@blackhillscorp.com, and Korey.Kelly@blackhillscorp.com.  Be sure to note in your RSVP if you would like a quick tour of Horizon Point prior to the meeting.  Upon Entering Horizon Point, announce yourself to Security as part of the IEEE “Watch Party” group, and they will check your name and direct you to the meeting area.

This is a big deal for IEEE.  I think you will find it very informative.  I hope you can participate, and spread the word to SDSM&T faculty and IEEE student chapter members.  Be sure to check out the http://www.ieeepresidentsforum.com website.
