Survey of Machine Learning and Applications, ROS Architecture Basics

#1) Machine Learning and Deep Learning Applications have been applied to fields including computer vision, speech recognition, natural language processing, audio recognition, social network filtering, machine translation, bioinformatics, drug design and board game programs etc., where they have produced results comparable to and in some cases superior to human experts.

#2) Robot Operating System(ROS) is being widely used by leading robotics companies in the industry and academic institutions for a decade. ROS is also expected to be dominating the specialized robotics and automation industry solutions for a long while. In contrast to its name, it is actually not an operating system but rather an open-source robotics middleware ie., a collection of software frameworks for robot software development.

During our monthly technical session during  Nov 5th, Andrew Burruss from "Deep Learning RTP" group will walkthrough "A survey of Machine Learning Applications".

We will also walkthrough the basics of ROS architecture with simulation demo examples. After this first step, in a future session, we will conduct a hands-on ROS practice workshop with specific set of exercises. Our objective is to create and enhance the ROS expertise in our local community.
