Special IEEE Day Event, brought to you by IEEE Central Texas Section, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering and Technology and Engineering Management Society

Special Event! IEEE Day Celebration and Leadership Lessons from Austin Shakespeare and Tennessee Williams!  -PERFORMANCE and Champagne Reception-

Recent research shows that creativity “can be accelerated through the strengthening of any of four measurable, trainable competencies,” one of which involves seeking out new stimuli, such as attending a theater performance (Epstein et al. 2008 and Martinich 2017).*

Want to try this out?

We'll watch the opening night performance of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and join the cast and crew for a delightful Champagne Reception backstage!  Our discount tickets are sold out, but you can still join us by purchasing a ticket here.  Be sure to both purchase your tickets, and register for this event so that we can greet you at the door!

(Make this event even more meaningful: join us for a follow up discussion on Monday, November 19, at 6:30PM at Cirrus Logic.)

Join us for this exciting event! Bring a friend! And make new ones!

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Tennessee Williams’ personal favorite play, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” kicks off Austin Shakespeare’s season as a resident company at the Long Center’s intimate Rollins Studio Theater Nov. 15-Dec.2. The play noted for his Southern sexy verve has a new staging by Artistic Director, Ann Ciccolella, Gwendolyn Kelso returns as “Maggie the cat” after wowing audiences as “Blanche” in “Streetcar,” one of the most of popular shows the professional company has ever produced.   New to Austin Shakes is Zac Thomas as “Brick,” the husband who is succumbing to alcoholism as wife tries to save him, and their marriage.   As his dynamic father, “Big Daddy,” Ev Lunning returns to the stage, with a new member of Austin Shakes Elise Jacobs as “Big Mama.”

“Tennessee Williams is both a poet and a playwright, and in “Cat” his beautiful potent story unfolds in a Mississippi bedroom. In one powerful night that is meant to celebrate Big Daddy’s Birthday, truths are revealed that have been masked by each member of the family,” says Ciccolella.

The cast includes of Alumni Actors who have worked with Austin Shakes before: Robert Deike (Gooper), Corinna Browning (Mae), Patrick Schmidt (Reverand Tooker), Derek Webster (Dr. Braugh).

Scenic design is by Tara Houston; Costumes are designed by Benjamin Taylor Ridgeway, assisted by Katie Marie Hooper; lighting design by Patrick W, Anthony; Sound design by William Meadows & original music by Jeff Britting.
