IEEE Pikes Peak Two Part Section Meeting Sept. 27: Part 1: Cybersecurity: Threat and Risk Management and Part 2: “The President’s Forum” – A Live Video Conference with the IEEE President and senior leadership.
Abstract/Summary: The IEEE Pikes Peak Section is pleased to invite you to a September 27, 2018 section meeting covering two very interesting topics: 1) Cybersecurity: Threat and Risk Management and 2) The IEEE President’s Forum – A live real-time video conference with the opportunity for attendees to learn about the organization, ask questions, hear about new events, and share their thought concerning IEEE’s future with senior leadership including President Jim Jefferies. There is no admission charge and pizza and soft drinks will also be provided free of charge.
Agenda
- 4:30 to 5:30PM: Meet and greet. Free pizza and soft drinks will be served.
- 5:00 to 6:00PM: Presentation on Cybersecurity by Michael Semmens. See details on Mike's presentation below.
- 6:00 to 9:00PM: IEEE Presidents Forum where attendees will be able to participate via a real-time streaming video connection to the forum being held in Fort Collins from 6:00 to 9:00. Participants at the Colorado Springs event will be able to ask questions and share their thoughts concerning IEEE's future with senior IEEE leaders including IEEE President & CEO Jim Jefferies, IEEE President-Elect Jose' Moura, and IEEE Executive Director Steve Welby.

PRESIDENT’S FORUM
The current IEEE President, President-elect, and Executive Director will speak about their experiences and plans for IEEE. The presentation will be streamed live from the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins, and the in-person and remote audiences can ask questions.
This is an opportunity for viewers to learn about the organization, ask questions, hear about new events, and discuss what IEEE does well. Leadership, including President Jim Jeffries, IEEE President Elect Jose' Moura, and IEEE Executive Director Steve Welby, will speak and listen to the membership directly. It is a unique opportunity to make your opinion heard.

Biography:
Michael Semmens is the president of Imprimis, Inc. (i2), a local company that specializes in cybersecurity technology as well as cyber risk management and compliance, training, space technology, and advanced engineering. He has served as President for the 14 years since the founding of the company. Michael was a Corporate VP at BDM International, a corporation eventually acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation. At BDM Mike was responsible for developing and managing business divisions in energy, information technology, manufacturing, and advanced instrumentation.
Major programs included designing the CAD/CAM system for the B2 bomber, the initiation of the EDGAR program for the SEC, building totally automated factories for Morton Thiokol, Caterpillar, and developing manufacturing control designs for Ford Motor Company. He also was responsible for the state and local IT outsourcing business. He has managed and arranged funding for a number of high-tech start-up companies. He was named Engineer of the Year in New Mexico, received the R&D 100 Award, and Leadership in Education from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
