IEEE CASS Kolkata Outreach Program


The one day workshop on Embedded System related to the Internet of Things is an IEEE Outreach Program was held at Asansol Engineering College at Asansol, West Bengal, India. The course content consists of Theory and Practice having Theoretical aspects of Real-Time Systems, Introduction to Arm Processor, Sensor s and Sensing System for IoT, IoT protocols, Issues, challenges, and applications. The practical course consists of familiarization of Raspberry Pi, different operating systems of Raspberry Pi, The applications of Raspberry Pi with Sensors ( Sensehat ), Sensehat Emulator, Raspberry Pi camera applications. The duration of the course is 6 hours/ 1 day. 135 students and faculty members participated in this event. The workshop was a success in itself as for each and every participant it is a step ahead towards expertise. The event was carried in the grandeur of the Vivekananda seminar hall, ME building. 75% of students find this workshop very useful. 70% of students find the study material very useful, 88% of students interested to participate in the more advanced workshop, 80% of students like the Raspberry Pi session very useful Suggestions from students:

Biography:

Prof. Dr. Joyanta Kumar Roy, Ph.D. has been working in Electronics and Automation Engineer for last 33
years as Company Director, Consulting Engineering, Developer, Researcher and Educationist. Presently,
he is associated with University of Calcutta as Visiting Professor, Company Director with System Advance
Technologies and Freelance Consultant with the number of Industries to give design support towards Smart
Technology in the water sector. He is Senior Member of IEEE and IET, Fellow Member of IETE and IWWA,
regular reviewer of IEEE and Springer Journals. He is associate editor of S2IS journal, published
a significant number of scientific and technical publication in the form of the book, book chapter, design
document, research paper etc. He is volunteering IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Chapter, Kolkata
Section as Chairman and he is immediate Past Chairman of IET (UK) Kolkata Network. His research
interest includes the development of smart measurement and control system, multifunction sensors, IoT
based m‐health, and technology assisted living, Smart home and city
