Central Iowa Section and PES Joint Meeting

Please join us for the October Section meeting. We have reserved a meeting room at the Pizza Ranch in Ankeny for dinner then a presentation by Mr. Bruce Keeney, Vice President of Operations & Engineering, Midland Power Cooperative, Jefferson, Iowa. This will be a joint meeting with the Power and Energy Society Chapter.

Mr. Keeney will first tell us a bit about the history of the industry and of power

cooperatives. He will then address technical and operating issues including

generation, voltage levels, conductor sizing, short-circuit protection,

maintenance, equipment, power losses, automated meter reading, and safety.

Save the Date! The Annual Meeting and Dinner will be held Thursday, November 15th, at the ISU Alumni Center Ballroom.

Volunteers are needed for the DMACC STEM festival on Monday, October 22th. We will be demonstrating Squishy Circuits to high school students. If you can help, please send a note to John Armstrong, jarmstrong@ieee.org.
