AECC Oswald Plant Tour
Arkansas Power and Energy Society is going on a road trip.
The Arkansas Electric Cooperative has kindly allowed a tour of their Harry L. Oswald generation station. The Oswald station is located in Wrightsville, Arkansas (right outside of Little Rock). The station has been in operation since 2003, utilizes natural gas as its fuel source, and has a capability of 548 MW! The tour will lasts right around an hour, and I would recommend everyone show up about 10 to 15 minutes early so that we can begin the tour promptly at 10:00 AM.
Because this is an operational power plant the following items must be adhered to by all tour participants.
Tour participants must stay with assigned escort at all times.
Dress code: Long pants, closed heel and toed shoes, and shirt with minimum sleeve length of 4"
Appropriate PPE shall be worn at all times: Hard hat, safety glasses, and ear protection as needed (AECC will supply PPE)
Be alert to surroundings at all times and do not assume AECC employees are aware of your presence in their area
Photographs unless previously approved are not authorized
In case of emergency follow escort's directions. If escort is injured contact emergency services (911)
If you are injured, you must notify escort immediately (no matter how minor the injury).
On-line registration opens today. And closes on Thursday October 25, 2018 @ 5:00 PM. We have shortened the registration period to allow a finalized list to be sent to our host's at AECC the Friday before the tour. Lunch is not provided, but if some folks want to get together for lunch after the tour that would be fine.
