We are happy to inform you that IEEE MTT-S SBC IIT BHU Varanasi has celebrated9^thanniversary of IEEE Day 2018 with joining hands with IEEE Student branch, IEEE Photonics Society and IEEE IAS society at ABLT Hall-1 of IIT (BHU) Varanasi on 4^th October 2018.In the celebration, 26 IEEE student members and 8 faculty members had taken part. The volunteers (student members) from branch chapters have taken their assigned responsibilities and the program has started at 4 PM. On behalf of the IEEE Student branch, Ms. Shivani Chandra has hosted the stage and welcome all the student members and respected faculty members of the institute. The event celebration has started by garlanding the statue of Bharat Ratan Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya, founder of Banaras Hindu University by Dr. Shyam Kamal, Faculty Advisor, IEEE Student Branch, Dr. Somak Bhattacharyya, Faculty Advisor, IEEE- MTTS IIT (BHU), Prof. R.K. Shrivastava, Faculty advisor, IEEE IAS Society IIT (BHU), Dr. Santanu Das,Faculty advisor, IEEE Photonics society IIT (BHU), Dr. Smrity Dwivedi,Member IEEE, and Dr. S.K. Singh,Member IEEE.In the sequence of celebration, a cake of IEEE day 2018 was cut by the chairpersons of societies and branch.

The motivational talks on IEEE day theme “Leveraging Technology for better tomorrow” were given by our respected faculty members, branch and chapter advisors . Prof. R K Shrivastava shared his vast academic experience with IEEE and shared the old memories of IEEE student branch formation.The MTT-S SBCadvisorDr. Somak Bhattacharyyatold us about the journey timeline of IEEE MTT-S SBC IIT BHUfrom IEEE day 2017 to IEEE day 2018.Dr. S. K. Singh told that how student get benefited from IEEE societies, events, conferences and available funding schemes. Dr. Smrity Dwivedi appreciated the initiatives of IEEE Student branch at IIT BHU.Dr. Debdas Ghosh gave emphasis to build a collaboration between engineers and mathematicians.Prof. V. N. Lal  suggested that through branch chapters, student can participate in largest academic and research networks provided by IEEE.At IEEE day, to provide exposure of technical writing,Dr. Shyam Kamal in his talk made the formal announcement of Latex Workshop being held on 6^th October 2018.

Mr. Rajan Agrahari, Ms. Bhawna Singh, Mr. B.Vinod Kumar, Mr. Nilotpal and Mr. Arjun Kumar have given a micro-talk on their research topicsatIEEE day i.e. “a day commemorating the first time IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884”.The IEEE MTT-S Society bestowed the certificates of appreciation to the office bearer for their contributions and service during 2017-18. The event was concluded by a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Somak Bhattacharyya, Faculty Advisor, the MTT-S SBC IIT BHU. Finally, a group photo has been takenbefore the Ms. Shivani Chandra requested all student members and respected faculty members for snacks and tea which is arranged outside Hall-1.
