Talk on Current Trends in Technology
The industry is an ever-changing phenomenon and their demand changes according to change in technology in the era. So, it is important for students to know the irresolute needs of the market with respect to their academics and current technologies. Keeping this in mind, the IEEE DDU Student branch organized a two-hour expert talk on Current trends in technology on 5th October 2018 at the Seminar hall of Faculty of technology in Dharmasinh Desai University. The audience consisted of 1st to 4th year Engineering students.
The expert invited was Mr. Swayam Ranjan who is Chief Executive Officer and a co-founder of the company “Analytics Valley”. Being alumni of ISB Hyderabad and IITM Gwalior, he has immense knowledge in management studies. Having worked with many industries he has rich & qualitative experience in fields of Application Management, Team Management, Project Delivery and CRM. The Chief Guest invited was Ms. Anjali Diwan, the student activity head of IEEE Gujarat section.
With an expert as accomplished as Mr. Swayam Ranjan, the seminar started at 15:00 hrs with the felicitation of our expert and our chief guest by Dr. Prathan Mehta, Associate Professor of DDU college and head of IEEE DDU Student Branch. After which the talk started with some meaningful questions by the attendees for the expert. The expert responded with clear and meaningful answers. Mr. Ranjan then talked about his company and its vision to add value of life through data insight. The difference between idea, knowledge and innovation was clearly resolved by him. The topic of start-up vs multinational companies was also discussed. The hardships and needs of a start-up company were also explained by him.
Mr. Swayam Ranjan then gave us idea about the type of skills a company expects from an employee. He also introduced us to the difficulties faced by industry due to always changing demands of the customer and market. Our contribution to reduce these problems were explained by him. The example of his company and its demands was given to give us the general idea of the industry. The expert also motivated us to do our own projects and research in college. He gave us the excellent idea to create aims and vision for our life and explained how it can help achieve what we want in our life. His presentation was ended on this note and was followed with some quick questionnaire from the audience.
There were total of 67 enthusiasts participated, among which 20 IEEE members and 47 non-IEEE members present. In managing the whole seminar in short notice the credit goes to Hetvi Shah, Mahek Vyas, Rinal Dhokai, Abbas Rangwala,Rahul Ajmeriya, Dhruvit Vasavada.
The talk was followed by some insights of Ms. Anjali Diwan on how IEEE can help students in various aspects and shared the benefits of IEEE to the new members of IEEE DDU Student Branch. The seminar was ended by a little gossip between Ms. Diwan and existing IEEE members of the college.
