Introduction

IEEE GCET Computer Society Student Chapter has organized a seminar on “SEO and Digital Marketing” on 26th July, 2018. It was a one-day event aimed at making students understand the current technologies in the industry.

Total 279 students from UG level took keen interest and participated in the seminar.

The seminar started with the felicitation of Mr. Mehul Raval by Dr. Hardik Pathak, the Branch Counsellor of GCET IEEE SB and was followed by the felicitation of Dr. Hardik Pathak by Neel Dholakia, ! Chairperson of GCET IEEE SB CS Chapter.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of improving a website for search engines so it ranks higher in search results. The higher a page is in ranking the more visible it becomes to potential visitors.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the online visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine's unpaid results. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, video search, academic search, news search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. SEO differs from local search engine optimization in that the latter is focused on optimizing a business' online presence so that its web pages will be displayed by search engines when a user enters a local search for its products or services. The former instead is more focused on national or international searches.

Approximately 30% of all visitors click the first result, 15% click the second and 10% the third link. So to attract more visitors, it helps to get a higher page ranking.

  3. Pillars of Digital Marketing (Online and Offline)
  4. Types of Digital marketing: SEM (Search Engine Marketing), Social Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Email Marketing.

Throughout the event, participants have gained a lot of knowledge about the current technologies and how to use them optimally.
