Introduction

IEEE GCET Computer Society Student Chapter has organized a Workshop on “Wordpress” on 27^th July, 2018. It was a one-day event aimed at making students understand the current technologies in the industry.

Many students from UG level took keen interest and participated in the seminar.

About the Speaker

Mr. Mayur Keshwani is currently a Project Coordinator at Multidots Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad. He is working in core areas of WordPress including developing themes, plugins, WordPress’s own Core Project development.

 

About the Workshop

WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. Features include a plugin architecture and a template system. It is most associated with blogging, but supports other types of web content including more traditional mailing lists and forums, media galleries, and online stores. Used by more than 60 million websites, including 30.6% of the top 10 million websites as of April 2018, WordPress is the most popular website management system in use.

 

 

During the Workshop

The following topics were covered in the 1^st workshop on WordPress:

1. How to setup offline server using wamp.
2. How to host a website for free.
3. How to setup a website.
4. UI of a website.
5. Page/Blog of a website.

 

After the workshop, there was a question and answer session.

Throughout the event, participants have gained a lot of knowledge about developing websites through Wordpress and how to use the tools efficiently.
