7th International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI’18)
The Seventh International Conference on Computing, Communication and Informatics was hosted by PESIT- Bangalore South Campus during 19-22, September 2018. The 6 previous ICACCI conferences were held in Chennai, Mysore, Noida, Kochi, Jaipur and Manipal starting from 2012.
Since its inauguration in 2012, ICACCI has developed into a reputed conference and is well attended by experts in all aspects related to computing and information from many parts of the world. It provides an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas among interested researchers, students, developers, and practitioners in the areas of computing, communications, and informatics. The Conference is indexed by Scopus, DBLP and Google Scholar since 2012 and by Ei Compendex and Web of Science since 2013. Google scholar metrics shows h5-index=23 and h5-median=30 for ICACCI.
ICACCI'18 was technically co-sponsored by IEEE and IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and IEEE Robotics & Automation Society. Other Technical sponsors of ICACCI 2018 are, Photonics Society, Women in Computing and ACM. All accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.
The four day schedule had keynote talks by domain experts in the morning sessions and research paper presentations in the afternoon sessions. This edition of ICACCI had 28 invited talks by eminent researchers from across the globe. These included Austria, France, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Bangladesh, USA and India. 575 papers highlighting the research findings of delegates were presented in the conference. There were paper contributions from around 40 countries.
The papers were scheduled for presentations in different sessions namely regular paper sessions, short paper sessions, industry track, poster paper sessions, workshops, and symposiums. Other sessions included tutorials, plenary/keynote sessions, lightning talks and panel discussion.
The Conference featured many co-affiliated Symposiums. Of special mention was a Symposium on Women in Computing and Informatics (WCI-2018). WCI serves as a platform to explore the opportunities as well as the diverse challenges facing women in computing and allied areas. There was a panel discussion on "Why women expertise remain unutilized in Tech Spectrum" as part of WCI'18, which was the closing event of ICACCI.
In this edition of ICACCI we had introduced first symposium on ‘Social Media Analytics, Fintech, Healthcare and Corporate Social Responsibilty’ (CSRTech) by Dr. Sekhar Babu from Business School, Amrita University, Bangalore Campus. This symposium had 2 talks by corporate personnel followed by paper presentations.
Another highlight of this conference was a workshop on ‘Modeling & Machine learning in Astronomy’ put together by Dr. Snehanshu Saha of PES University with 5 invited talks and few research papers presented.
Another major attraction was an interesting hands-on workshop by Prof. Prasad Honnavalli form PES university and his team on information ‘Security in a connected world-Why should I care’?
The lightening talk wherein participants can present their innovative ideas in 7 minutes and get input from experts also got good submissions to choose from.
The industry track attracted good response too. The partnership with Industries like CISCO, Lam Research will result into a long term research association. We also had Cambridge University Press and Texmo Metro Traders as the other sponsors. This is the first time ICACCI had such Industry support.
On the whole, the experience of conducting ICACCI’18 has been very satisfying and outcomes have been manifold. The positive feedbacks received from authors, invited speakers and delegates are very encouraging and gratifying.
