Remembering Prabha Kundur (1939-2018) - Celebrating a Lifetime of Contributions to Engineering and Society
Please join us in remembering the lifetime contributions of Prabha Kundur at this solemn gathering on November 27th.
Prabha Kundur (1939-2018) obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and had over 40 years of experience in the electric power industry. He was, most recently, the president of Kundur Power Systems Solutions, Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He served as the President and CEO of Powertech Labs Inc. He had also worked at Ontario Hydro for nearly 25 years.
He was the author of the book Power System Stability and Control (McGraw-Hill, 1994), which is a standard modern reference for the subject. Dr. Kundur had a long record of service and leadership in the IEEE and CIGRE. He had chaired numerous committees and working groups of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) and was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 1985. He served as the Chair of the IEEE Power System Dynamic Performance Committee. He was a member of the IEEE PES Executive Committee and was the PES Vice-President for Education.
Dr. Kundur was a long-time friend and supporter of University of Manitoba and the electrical engineering community in Winnipeg. His passing in October 2018, has been a great loss to his family, friends and the engineering community and he will be deeply missed.
