History of NELA Park

Biography:

Terry’s lighting career spans more than 50 years starting with GE Lighting where he retired as Manager of the GE Lighting Institute in 1998. He then started his own lighting consulting business which included managing the lighting research activities of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Palo Alto, CA. Today, through his company, Lighting Ideas, Inc. in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, he acts on behalf of the American
Lighting Association as their Director of Engineering and Technology providing technical and educational expertise to the residential lighting industry.
He is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society and the 2017 recipient of the IES Louis B. Marks Award for distinguished service. Internationally, he is active in the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) as a member of the U.S. National Committee and as a member of the Technical Committee for the International Dark Sky Association.

Shelli Sedlak

Biography:

Ms. Sedlak is a lighting professional with over 25 years of industry experience. She is currently the Senior Product Manager for Indoor Commercial Ceilings for Current, powered by GE.  Prior to her PM role, she was the Manager & a Senior Lighting Specialist with The Lighting Institute, a renowned Center of Excellence for Current and GE Lighting. Also for GE Lighting, she managed GE Lighting’s North American Specification Engineering Team. Her past industry experiences include Hubbell Lighting (retail national accounts), Southern California Edison (lighting engineer), and Lockheed (engineering consultant).

 Ms. Sedlak has been involved with the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for 25+ years, holding local, regional and national positions. She served a term as Director on the IES Board of Directors, and is currently serving as the President for the NCQLP (National Council for the Qualifications of Lighting Professionals) and a Board of Director for the National Lighting Bureau (NLB).

 Ms. Sedlak earned her M.B.A. (Executive Management) degree from Ohio University and B.S. Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Southern California (USC). She is Lighting Certified (LC), and is a USGBC LEED AP®. Additionally, she is an IEEE Senior Member. She has proudly served with the USAF Reserves.

 When she is not busy being a self-proclaimed “Lighting Geek”, she loves to camp, kayak, and chase her flock of chickens around the yard.
