Digital Switchgear Technology and Application of IEC 61850 for Medium Voltage Switchgear Protection and Control
IEC 61850 is an international standard defining communication protocols for intelligent electronic devices at electrical substations. It is a part of the International Electrotechnical Commission's Technical Committee 57 reference architecture for electric power systems. Since its publication in 2004, the global IEC 61850 standard has been accepted at an unexpectedly fast rate. Since the advent of the IEC 61850, Edition 2 in 2011 that now also takes the standard outside the substation.
