Dr Upasana Singh is a lecturer in the Discipline of Information Systems and Technology at the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. She lectures on a wide-range of IT-related subjects and she has a keen interest in Educational Technologies. In 2014, she received 2 research awards. She served as panel reviewer for the NRFs Joint Collaboration applications in 2015 and 2016. Joint academic collaboration is one of her fortes having secured 3 MoUs with international universities. This has provided her with the platform to share her knowledge as invited guest speaker to local and international conferences in South Africa, India and Mauritius since 2015. In 2017 she was selected to join the “Joint Expertise Programme” at Chemnitz Technical University in Germany; and selected to represent UKZN at MoodleMoot Australia in Sydney. She also has a keen interest in joint curriculum development with International Higher Education Institutions. In 2018 she was nominated on a 2 year training program in “Teaching Advancement in Universities” (TAU).

 

Sunaina Maharaj is a former student of Westville Girls High School and a final year Bcom IT student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She is double majoring in Information Systems and Technology. At School here, she was the Interact Chairperson in 2014 and firmly believe in, “service above self”. She was also part of the LMT and a computer monitor. She considers herself to be a conscientious and hard working person with great aspirations.

Dauda Olayinka Ayanda completed both his BSc (Honors) in Computer Engineering and MSc in Computer Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2006 and 2012 respectively. He has work experience of over 8 years in Technical and Academic Sectors in Nigeria and he is currently a Senior Network Engineer, University of Ibadan, Nigeria (on study leave to South Africa). He was team lead of Internet project that involved re-designing, configuring and installation of a new mesh network system for Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan in 2011 and worked on a team on several other projects. Ayanda’s choice of Engineering from High School stemmed from problem-solving ability of Engineers to every facet of human endeavors.

Naymah Adnan’s interest in engineering dates back to an intense passion and motivation in Mathematics and Physical Sciences in high school. She has achieved merits of success in all undergraduate electronic engineering design projects to date, encompassing fields of power circuity and embedded software interfaces, as well as radio and mobile communications. Naymah is a passionate student of engineering, motivated by achievements of the past for aspirations to excel in the fields of bio-medical technology in the future. She believes that engineering sciences of quantum physics and superconductivity can one day make medical facilities more affordable to developing communities. For her, being of moral and academic assistance to others is not a choice, but a compulsion. 

Sanam Baijnath is currently pursuing my Honours in Information Systems at the University of KwaZulu Natal, Westville Campus. She has a passion for all things tech related, as well as entrepreneurship.

Adrian Pillay started with KPMG in 2016. She graduated from UKZN with her Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems and is currently completing her Honours degree in Computing.  Her current role within KPMG is Senior Analyst within the Technology Advisory division. During her stay with the firm, she travelled on more than 30 flights that include both domestic and international travel! She also enjoys spending time at the beach, reading and running.

 

Sbu Kheswa is the Schools Liaison Officer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the Premier University of African Scholarship. UKZN is a truly South African university that is academically excellent, innovative in research, critically engaged with society and demographically representative, redressing the disadvantages, inequities and imbalances of the past. Sbu read for a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology, Marketing and Management at UKZN. He then went on to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance, Banking, Investment and Management at the University and is currently pursuing his Master in Business Administration at his alma mater. A passionate, self-dependent individual with strong communication capabilities, Sbu has exceptional people skills and dynamic thinking abilities
