IEEE Student Branch Chapter IIT (BHU) in collaboration with various IEEE Societies
organized a workshop on “LaTeX: The software for thesis and research papers” on 6th October
2018 to apprise the student fraternity about the use of LaTex. As the software is widely used in
academia for the communication and publication of scientific documents, including thesis and
research papers in multiple fields, the workshop witnessed stupendous participation of 288
students from UG, PG, and PhD levels.
The virtuoso tutoring of 25 speakers and tutors along with 20 mentors enlightened the students
about some basic and advanced features of the software. The panel of speakers included Dr.
Shyam Kamal (Counselor of IEEE Student branch), Ms Bhawana Singh (Chairman of IEEE
student branch), Prof. D. Singh (Head of EE), Prof. R. K. Srivastava (Counselor of IEEE IAS
student branch chapter), and Dr Somak Bhattacharyya (Counselor of IEEE MTT student branch
chapter). The Head of Department of electrical engineering, Prof. D. Singh was the guest of
honour for the concourse to inaugurate the workshop.
The assembly was served with high tea after the inauguration and other incentives by the
organizers included tea and biscuits during morning and afternoon breaks and providing lunch
to the organizers, speakers, and tutors.
The workshop was graced by the honourable presence of Dr Shyam Kamal (EE), Prof. R.
Mahanty (EE), Prof. D. Singh (EE), Prof. R. K. Srivastava (EE), Prof. R. K. Mishra (EE), Dr R.
K. Singh (EE), Dr V. N. Lal (EE), Dr Sandeep Ghosh (EE), Dr Santanu Das (CER), Dr Smrity
Dwivedi (ECE), and Dr Somak Bhattacharyya (ECE).
