Intrinium’s Stephen Heath is by now perhaps IEEE Spokane’s single most popular speaker.

Stephen will once again leverage his extensive experience — augmented by this year’s additional travel to combat cyber attacks across the USA — to address the dangerous landscape and current trends in the rapidly changing world of cyber security,  in his upcoming presentation at Luigi’s downtown.  This will be his 5th annual IEEE presentation on this exciting topic. Early registration is recommended.

At 26,000’ without a guide: Cybersecurity Today

It is a commonly held belief that the people who climb mountains are extreme risk takers when, in fact, they are the world's best risk managers. They meticulously evaluate the risks that they take with every step and try to ensure that despite the inherent danger, they are as safe as possible within a dangerous situation. While we may never climb a mountain like Annapurna or Everest, we are still trying to safely navigate our business goals without the proper understanding of the cybersecurity risks. Worse yet, there are many commonly held beliefs about information security that cloud our judgement every day and lead to us making the wrong decisions that put ourselves in greater danger of a disaster. In this lively conversation, Stephen Heath with fearlessly challenge five myths about cybersecurity and, using mountaineering as a backdrop, explain how everyone can be empowered to manage risk effectively and safely navigate cybersecurity in today's world.
