Roadmap to Success in Engineering Studies
Educational Activities, IEEE Kerala Section in association with IEEE Travancore Hub organized a one day event, ROADMAP TO SUCCESS IN ENGINEERING STUDIES 2018 at SCERT Hall, Poojappura, Trivandrum, Kerala on 11th April 2017. The session was exclusively for engineering aspirants who have completed 12th standard and looking forward for engineering admissions.
Objective: The main objective of the event is to introduce the features, scopes and academic structure of various engineering disciplines to engineering aspirants and hence helping them to opt for the branch in which they can excel for the same.
Outcome: To make the participants able to make a decision of their own regarding their future career.
The event was successful with a participation of more than 80 students and parents. The main speaker of the day was Mrs Sindhu Aneesh, an engineering graduate with 25 years of experience in teaching and certification of adult training from JCI University USA.
The first session began with talk by Mrs. Sindhu Aneesh. It was an interactive session. She ensured active interaction of all participants throughout the session. She mainly discussed about the 31 engineering branches and their job opportunities, she also pointed out the merits and demerits of various branches. Above all, she gave them a true idea of what actually engineering is all about. Her talk was indeed inspiring and she advised parents to let their children choose their destiny. Her talk was mainly confined to the engineering branches and courses across Kerala, But she did give them a brief idea about other options abroad and outside Kerala. The session was followed by a doubt clearance session, where parents and students could clear almost all their doubts.
The second session was a panel discussion followed by doubt clearance session for the students and parents. The panelists were Dr. Ramachandran, Immediate past placement officer, LBSITW, Prof. Shiju P. P., Head, ECE Department of LBSITW and Mr. Nandan S., Assistant Professor, ECE Department, LBSITW and Secretary, Educational Activities, IEEE Kerala Section. The panel experts gave a brief introduction about their branches, and discussed about the future opportunities of the same. The panel discussion marked the culmination of the event
The event was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Nandan S., Secretary, Educational Activities, IEEE Kerala Section. The event turned out to be a huge success because of the active participation of students and parents and the efficient organizing by the team led by Ms. Ananya R, WIE Coordinator, Travancore Hub, IEEE Kerala Section. The general feedback from the participants was that the sessions helped them to understand new things and kindle their curiosity.
In the feedback session, many students and parents said that the session was mostly interactive and they were able to clear all their doubts. Also they mentioned that the event made them confident enough to make a choice of their own. The event was indeed a grant success. It was a great help to those confused minds who weren’t sure about their choices.
