Micro-opto-electro-mechanical system (MOEMS) technology
This event is an invited lectur on Micro-opto-electro-mechanical system (MOEMS). The target audience for this event is Students and Faculty of ECE, EEE, MECH
MOEMS technology promises compact and functional devices for applications ranging from optical communications to optical sensors. In this presentation, common types of MOEM sensors such as for pressure, vibration, rotation, acceleration and force are reviewed along with their structure and performance. The focus here is on sensors based on light guidance in integrated optical waveguide devices controlled by MEMS structures. Recently there is considerable interest in integrated optic ring resonators and photonic bandgap structures as they provide wavelength and spectral based measurements, along with providing more compact structures. Here we present our recent work on two types of MOEMS sensors.

Micro-opto-electro-mechanical system (MOEMS) technology promises compact and functional devices for applications ranging from optical communications to optical sensors. Biography:
Dr T. Srinivas is an Associate Professor in ECE Dept, IISc. His research interest is in optical communications, specifically, photonic integrated circuits, with application to optical biosensors and quantum communications. He obtained B.Sc(Hons) from New Science College Hyderabad (1983), ME (Integrated) & PhD from IISc (1987,1993) and was a post doc at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan during 1992-96. He has written 50 journal papers and 100 conference papers and guided 25 Ph D Students. He has taken up several sponsored research projects. He was the Chairman, GATE, IISc zone during 2010-13. He is a member of NBA expert team and visited 20 colleges. He is a member of IEEE communications society and IEEE photonics society, SPIE, SIAM, IETE, etc. He has started 15 IEEE student branches in Karnataka and 10 IEEE society chapters. He has given 100 lectures at various Engineering colleges, on photonics, IEEE and related topics.
