Use of the Optical coherence imaging techniques to image the middle ear through the eardrum. Some of the unique challenges of imaging in the ear such as long scanning range needed, the low numerical aperture and the optical losses in traversing the eardrum, will be discussed.

Biography:

Rob Adamson is an associate professor in Dalhousie’s School of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  Dr. Adamson’s research interests are in ultrasound and optics-based technologies for diagnostics and therapeutics.  He has a strong interest in medical device commercialization and has spun out two companies from his lab, Daxsonics Ultrasound, and Audioptics Medical.
