Becoming an Independent Consultant
Come learn about the benefits of becoming a consultant. How, why, and when to become a consultant, the Ins and outs on how to be successful, benefits and advantages of working for yourself, and how to get clients. This talk will be jam-packed with tons of references to paper and videos. The talk will include an overview of IEEE-USA’s Alliance of IEEE Consultants Network and the training and support resources it provides to consultants. The audience will be introduced to Mr. Hermann Amaya, the founder and chairman of the IEEE FWCS Consultant Network Affinity Group and a key member of Alliance of IEEE-USA Consultants Networks Coordinating Commmittee with connections at the national level. Important consulting business lessons-learned will be presented along with some very concrete ways to avoid the pitfalls. Included in the presentation is the path consultants use toward more passive income, a form of entrepreneurship.
Speaker: Mr. Stosic (could not be present due to health issues) is an independent consultant working in the area of Communication System Design and Development. His consultancy was founded in 1996 and grew to 4 employees to include its own product designs. Early on Mr. Stosic provided direct consulting service to companies such as Rockwell-Collins, Motorola, Harris, and Raytheon on the topic of UHF Military Satellite Communications. Mr. Stosic is a Senior Member of IEEE and the vice-chairman of the IEEE FWCS Consultant Network Affinity Group.

Biography:
Hermann Amaya is the Chair/Founder of The Florida West Coast Consultants Network Affinity Groupwhich has been opeating since 2009 in the Tampa Bay area. Hermann was also the Chair for the Alliance of IEEE-USA Consultants Networks Coordinating Committee which oversaw the actiivities of 45 Consultants Networks across USA. He has also beeen a Consultant for over 20 years and is the CEO of AMHERCORP, a company providing solutions to DoD, Utilities and Industry in areas of Information Technology, Power and Communications.
