Prof. Chaudhuri also discussed some pattern recognition problems. Prof. B.B. Chaudhuri discussed some recent research technologies in the field of deep learning, computer vision. He also gives some ideas about one-shot learning and zero-shot learnings to newcomers.

RECENT RESEARCH TRENDS IN COMPUTER VISION
Professor Bidyut Baran Chaudhuri is the Head of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Unit of Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta and a distinguished J. C. Bose Fellow(2010-). Professor Chaudhuri received his B.Sc (Hons), B. Tech and M. Tech degrees from Calcutta University, India in 1969, 1972 and 1974, respectively and Ph.D. Degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1980. He did his Post-Doc work during 1981-82 from Queen's University, U.K. He also worked as a visiting faculty at Tech University, Hannover during 1986-87 as well as at GSF institute of Radiation Protection (now Leibnitz institute) , Munich in 1990 and 1992.
In 1978 Professor Chaudhuri joined Indian Statistical Institute as a faculty member and served as the Project Co-ordinator and Head of National Nodal Centre for Knowledge Based Computing till 1994. He is the founding head of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Unit of the Institute, which was established in 1994. His teaching experience includes taking various masters degree courses, guiding several Master degree and 13 Ph.D. dissertations in the areas of Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Density estimation, Clustering, Data Compression, Fuzzy set applications, Texture analysis, Remote Sensing, Fractal Geometry, Optical Character Recognition, Speech analysis, ECG analysis, Natural Language Processing, Information Extraction.
Biography:
Bidyut Baran Chaudhuri is a senior Scientist and the pro-vice-chancellor of Techno India University, West Bengal, India. He is also adjuncted to Indian Statistical Institute, where he was a Professor for about three decades. He was the founding Head of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Unit of ISI.
