Report on field visit of “6.6MWp Solar Power Plant’

Pocharam (v), Infosys (SEZ), RangaReddy Dist. Telangana State.

Date: 06-07-2019

Venue: 6.6 MWp SOLAR POWER PLANT, POCHARM (V), INFOSYS (SEZ) RANGAREDDY DISTRICT

Topic: RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Session: 12:00PM TO 03:00PM

The theme behind the field visit is for the awareness of Solar Power Plant, their technology, design consideration and performance monitoring, their importance, need, advantages, disadvantages, diagnostics and servicing. etc.,

Students of III B.TECH EEE A and B Sections, on a practical study tour with prior permission of the authorities concerned, went to Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 6.5 MW located at Pocharam village in RangaReddy district on 6th July 2019 around 12:00 noon. The total Solar Plant consists of 28912 panels(each panel of 310W). These solar panels are used two technologies poly crystalline are of 11760 and thin film solar panels are of 17152 panels are used .These thin film panels are divided into 536 tables X 32 PV modules, thin film panel is of 270W each 8 modules are connected in a string, 200 string inverters are connected .These are of single axis system they were connected to a hydraulic system. These are connected to 1 inverter and also likewise 7 string monitoring boxes. So total 4 inverters are available. Thin film solar panel will work in any temperatures these panels generate power with full efficiently, the conducting material with high and low temperatures work efficiently. The no load DC voltage is 800V and during load conditions, it is around 550V to 600V. This available amount of DC is converted into 300V 3-phase AC using inverter. This 300V AC is step up to 33KV and is evacuated through substation. The in-charge of the solar power plant and our faculty members viz. Dr. G. Venu Madhav sir, Md. Yaseen sir and S. Mamatha madam explained in detail about the performance of the power plant such as its design, maintenance, power generation and its conversion, SCADA monitoringand the transmission of generated power to the GRID, etc., It was indeed a very successful tour and students thoroughly understood its usage in detail.

After a brief break at the plant, we thanked the managing authorities and took leave from them around 02:30pm that day.  It was indeed a successful visit for which we express our sincere thanks to our management, Director Dr. K. S. Rao garu, HOD of EEE department, Dr. T Anil Kumar garu, Industry Institute interaction in-charge Dr. G. Venu Madhav garu and our respected faculty.
