The PES and IAS Chapters will sponsor a technical seminar on the topic of Transformers. The session will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at PSE&G’s Hadley Road Facility, 4000 Hadley Road, South Plainfield, NJ 07080-1192.

Sheldon Kennedy of Niagara Transformer Corporation

Biography: Sheldon Kennedy is the Vice President of Engineering with Niagara Transformer in Buffalo, NY where he has worked since 1985. Prior experience includes teaching, mining, utilities and other transformer manufacturers. Sheldon is the Chairman of the Rectifier Transformers Working Group in the IEEE PES Transformer Committee, and chaired IEEE C57.18.10-1998, IEEE Practices and Requirements for Semiconductor Power Rectifier Transformers. He is the United States industrial convertor transformers representative to IEC from the ANSI United States National Committee Technical Advisory Group. He was the NEMA Transformer Section Chairman from 2000 to 2003. He is the past Chairman of the Accredited Standards Committee C57 – Transformers, Regulators, and Reactors, 2002 - 2005. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. He is the Chairman of the Sealed Dry Type Transformer Working Group, C57.12.52 in the IEEE Transformer Committee, and also the Neutral Grounding Devices Working Group, C57.32. He is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and the IEEE Transformer Committee. He is also a member of the Industry Applications Society and past Chairman of the Electrochemical Subcommittee of the PCIC 2007 -2010. He is a member of the RTVISC Traction Power Substation Subcommittee, Working Group 21, Traction Power Rectifier Transformers Standard. He is also a member of the IEEE Engineering Management Society and the IEEE Magnetics Society. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Pennsylvania and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He served as Secretary, Vice President, President and Director of the Fayette Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He is the author of two IEEE PCIC papers and an IEEE PPIC paper. Sheldon is also the author of the Rectifier Transformer chapter in the CRC book, “Electric Power Transformer Engineering”.

Agenda

The seminar fee includes lunch, refreshments and handouts. Non-members joining IEEE within 30 days of the seminar will be rebated 50% of the IEEE registration charge.

Four hours of instruction will be provided. If desired, IEEE Continuing Education Units (0.4 CEUs) will be offered for this course - a small fee of $45 will be required for processing.
