Requirements for Fusing in Hazardous Locations & Branch vs Supplemental Protectors
What are the requirements for fusing in Class 1 Division 2 and Zone 2 Hazardous Locations? Are 5x20mm fuses used in C1D2 applications required to be ceramic? Is a fuse terminal block the same as a fuse holder? This presentation addresses the requirements for fuse holders and fuses intended to be used in Class 1 Division 2 and Zone 2 applications. The most recent editions of UL 121201 and CSA C22.2 No. 213 will be used as references.
We will also cover the topic of Branch versus Supplemental Protection. Is a supplemental protector the same as a circuit breaker? Is an MCB (miniature circuit breaker) the same as a branch circuit breaker? This presentation will discuss the UL and CSA requirements for circuit breakers and supplemental protectors as well as protection for control transformer secondaries and DC circuits.
