IEEE Student Branch of Sir MVIT with the Branch code STB35861 has been inaugurated on 2nd April 2019. The Branch has 70 student members. Mr Abhishek  M Appaji, Assistant Professor BMSCE, Joint Secretary & SIGHT Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section, Webmaster & MD Chair, IEEE
PES Bangalore Chapter, Treasurer, IEEE TEMS Bangalore Chapter was the chief guest. The function was presided by Dr Nagendra, Chairman RAC , Dr E Kavitha , Professor & Head Dept of Telecom and hosted by Dr Sundaraguru R , Professor & HOD, Dept of ECE.
Dr R. Sundaraguru welcomed the gathering and gave the highlights of IEEE as an organization in a nutshell.
Mr Abhishek enlightened the students with the talk on Potential of being an IEEE Member and the benefits of IEEE Membership. He also talked on various societies and branches under IEEE which can be made use by the students to improve their professional life. The event
was witness by around 200 students from departments of ECE,CSE , Telecom.
Then the Slate containing the EXECOM for 2019 was declared by the branch counsellor and the newly formed execom members took the oath on the code of conduct regulated by IEEE headquarters before the dignitaries.
Mr Abhishek officially declared the affiliation of Photonics and Com-Soc joint societies to the Student Branch.
Dr Nagendra , Presided over the function and highlighted the importance of associating ourselves with the standard member bodies like IEEE and wished the team great success ahead.
Dr. E Kavitha , spoke about the various activities and importance of professional bodies in moulding the careers of the individuals and suggested students to make utmost use of the facility created for them at Sir MVIT.

Mr Abhishek M Appaji, Assistant Professor BMSCE, Joint Secretary & SIGHT Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section, Webmaster & MD Chair, IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter, Treasurer, IEEE TEMS Bangalore Chapter was the chief guest.

Mr. Abhishek M Appaji is a graduate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp specialized in New Ventures Leadership and was invited to talk at MIT Beyond Food Bootcamp. He is currently working as Assistant Professor, Dept of Medical Electronics, B.M.S College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bangalore, India. He obtained his Bachelors of Engineering in Medical Electronics with University Rank from BMSCE and Masters of Engineering (M.E) in Bioinformatics from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore and Masters of Technology in Information Technology from KSOU, Mysore. He is pursuing his research in Medical Image Processing from Maastricht University,the Netherlands.

He is the Senior member of IEEE. He was the Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Bangalore Section during 2017 and 2018. Currently, he is the SIGHT Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section, Treasurer of IEEE TEMS Bangalore Chapter, Execom Member of IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter and advisor for IEEE EMB BMSCE Chapter.

He has collaborations with Academic Institutes, Hospitals and Industries in India and abroad for various funded and research projects. Abhishek has also worked as research associate in Centre for Nanoscience and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He has two patents filed in Medtech Space. He has more than 40 International/National journal publications and conferences to his credit. He has been a part of more than 60+ Invited expert talks in various conferences, Forums, and events. He has renowned laurels including IEEE International Best paper Award in Malaysia, MGH CamTech Jugadathon Awards, Best Nodal Coordinator award, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award 2016 at Rastrapathy Bhavan (President of India House) New Delhi, Elderly care Hackathon (the Netherlands), Winner of Class 5 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, IEEE MGA Young Professional Achievement Award, etc. He has conducted/organised more than 100 events as an IEEE and IEEE EMBS/ IEEE Young Professional initiative.
