How to execute successful BTech Projects 2.0

Workshop titled “How to Execute Successful B.Tech Projects 2.0” was organized on 22nd September 2019, Sunday, by IEEE PES Kerala Chapter, in association with IEEE PES RIT Student Chapter as a sequel to a highly successful program conducted the previous year. The workshop was aimed at giving students more clarity on the topic on which to base their crucial final year project and how to execute it in a successful manner.

            The session spanned for 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. A registration desk was set up and opened at 9 am for the participants where after their membership card was verified, a kit was handed out. A total of 214 delegates from various colleges were present with the number of attendees from EEE, ECE, CSE and ME branches (74, 41, 55 and 44 students respectively for each branches).  

The inaugural session commenced at 10:30 am with Mr. Harilal Bhaskar, CEO of Atal Incubation Centre at IIIT, Kottayam as the invited chief guest. The welcoming address was given by Dr. Prince A, PES RIT student branch Chapter advisor from the EEE department, followed by a presidential speech by Dr. Jalaja M J, Principal, RIT. The chief guest addressed the participants soon after. Prof. Biju K, Secretary IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter, Kerala & past Secretary PES Kerala Chapter welcomed the faculties to the event and familiarized the crowd with their credentials and years of experience in their respective fields. The felicitation was given by Dr. Boby Philip, PES Kerala Chapter Secretary. The inaugural ceremony ended with the vote of thanks given by Shahnaz Fathima, IEEE RIT SB PES Chairperson. 

After the inaugural session, the participants were directed to classrooms where lecture workshops were held. Separate sessions were conducted parallelly for the four different branches (CS, ME, EC, EEE) in different classrooms. The faculty speaker of each session passed on valuable advice on how to choose the most relevant topic and carry out the project.

 The speaker for the ECE Workshop was Dr. M.V. Rajesh, Associate Professor at Model Engineering College. The ME Workshop was headed by Prof. A.K. Madhu, Assistant Professor at College of Engineering, Adoor. The speaker for the CSE Workshop was Dr. Binu V.P., Associate Professor at College of Engineering, Karunagappally and the EEE Workshop was Dr. Dinesh Gopinath, Associate Professor at College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. 

 

The lunch break was from 1:00pm to 1:45pm. A photo session was also arranged. The workshop session concluded at 4:00 pm. Sri. Anandhu S Kumar, Student Activities Coordinator, PES Kerala Chapter addressed during the concluding session and took feedback from students regarding the programme. The CS branch students quoted that the workshop was very informative and told about many fields of computer science on which successful projects can be made. The Students from EEE branch quoted that the session was very much informative in every aspects and gave emphasis on the hardware of the projects. The EC branch students quoted that the session gave an idea on how to form groups and how make each member a potential participant in the group and also gave an idea about the working of basic hardware components. The Students from Mechanical branch quoted that the session gave an overall view of the various mathematical models and set of algebraic equations for various approaches. The Token of Appreciation and certificates were given to all the faculties by Dr. Boby Philip and Dr. Prince A respectively.
