2019 IEEE Eurasia Conference on IOT, Communication and Engineering (IEEE ECICE 2019) will be held in Yunlin, Taiwan on October 3~6, 2019, and it will provide a unified communication platform for researchers with IOT and Advanced Manufacturing topics. The booming economic development in Asia, particularly the leading manufacturing industries from auto-mobile, machinery, computer, communication, consumer product, flat panel display to semiconductor and micro/nano areas have attracted intense attention among universities, research institutions and many industrial corporations. This conference aims to provide a broad international forum for world researchers, engineers, and professionals working in the areas of IOT and manufacturing to discuss and exchange various scientific, technical and management aspects across the wide spectrum of the society. The theme of the conference is set as smart manufacturing, focusing on new and emerging technologies. Papers with innovative idea or research results in all aspects of advanced manufacture are encouraged to submit. This conference is must attentive towards strong interactions among researchers disseminating their high quality research results.

iFA for Industry 4.1

National Cheng Kung University established the Intelligent Manufacturing Research Center (iMRC) under the Global Taiwan of Higher Education Sprout Program of Ministry of Education, Taiwan, R.O.C. in January 2018. This talk will begin by introducing the purpose, team members, and visions of iMRC. The current Industry 4.0 platform can only keep the faith of achieving nearly Zero Defects (ZD) state without realizing this goal. The key reason for this inability is the lack of an affordable online and real-time total inspection system. ZD state can be achieved by adopting the AVM system due to its capability of providing all product total inspection data. As the AVM system is integrated with the Industry 4.0 platform, the goal of ZD can be accomplished, which is defined as “Industry 4.1.” The principles and functions of the AVM system will be introduced, along with the implementation cases of applying AVM to high-tech industries such as semiconductor and TFT-LCD as well as traditional industries including wheel machining automation and aerospace engine case manufacturing. The talk then focuses on the novel development of the Intelligent Factory Automation (iFA) System by integrating technologies such as Cyber-Physical Agent (CPA), Advanced Manufacturing Cloud of Things (AMCoT), Automatic Virtual Metrology (AVM), Intelligent Predictive Maintenance (IPM), and Intelligent Yield Management (IYM), etc. The iFA System serves as the game changer for both high-tech (semiconductor, TFT-LCD, etc.) and traditional (machine tool, aerospace, etc.) industries to upgrade Industry 4.0 to Industry 4.1 in pursuit of increasing productivity and realizing the goal of Zero Defects (ZD) of all products.

Activities of AIST for the future manufacturing

Industrial environment of is changing. Manufacturing companies are required to conduct variant production instead of conventional mass production with low manpower. AI, IoT and robot technologies are expected to give solutions to those problems. In my presentation, I will talk about our vision of the future manufacturing and introduce our research activities for integrating AI, IoT and robot technologies.
