A talk on "Small Satellites" which was organized by the IEEE MTT-s Student Branch Chapter, University of Peradeniya was held on the 11th of July 2019 at the DEEE Seminar Room. Prof. Liyanage, Dr. Aruna Gunawardane, (Advisor and Senior Treasurer of the society), and Dr. Janaka Wijekulasooriya (Senior Lecturer, DEEE, UOP) also participated in this event.
An introduction to "Small Satellites" was delivered by Dr. Aruna Gunawardane and The Chair of the IEEE SBC UoP, Mr. Madushan Wickramasinghe gave an introduction to "BIRDS 3 PROJECT". Mr. Supun Dasanayake, a member of the IEEE MTT-s SBC UoP demonstrated on how to track a satellite using the Orbitron software.
All the participants were able to broaden their knowledge of satellite technologies and space engineering.
Finally, the event was winded up with the hope of conducting such valuable sessions in the future.
