RealHack 2.0
RealHack – The Inter-University Hackathon is the brainchild of the first ever batch of BSc. (Honors) in Software Engineering at University of Kelaniya. It was organized for the first time in 2018 under the brand name RealHack 1.0 and the event proved to be one of the best hackathons of the year. Encouraged by the feedback received, the Software Engineering Students’ Association in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch of the University organized the second of its promising long line of annual hackathons, under the brand name RealHack 2.0.
The purpose of the event was to bring together tech-savvy undergraduates of the country onto the same platform and create them the stage for a friendly battle of brainstorming and coding. The website dedicated for RealHack can be accessed via www.realhack.info
At the end of the 24-hour hackathon (8th of November), the teams were given an allocated time to present their solution to a panel of judges after which the panel asked questions about the solutions.
The judges presented their final evaluation and results to the Organizing team and the awards ceremony was commenced with the participation of the invited dignitaries and lecturers.
Accordingly, the following teams were awarded as the best 3 teams of RealHack 2.0 organized by Software Engineering Students’ Association in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch of University of Kelaniya

Agenda
The Final Hackathon commenced on the 7th of October at Sri Dharmaloka Hall, University of Kelaniya with the team registrations being opened at 11am. The opening ceremony was held at noon with the participation of dignitaries of the University and sponsor companies as well as lecturers and students of University of Kelaniya.
During the opening ceremony, the welcome speech was delivered by the President of the Software Engineering Students’ Association (SESA) and he also introduced the organizers, sponsors and presented the history and purpose of RealHack 2.0. The Senior Treasurer of SESA, Dr. Nalin Warnajith then addressed the gathering. The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Rangana Samarasinghe (CEO) of Insharp Technologies, the Gold Sponsor of RealHack 2.0
The finalists were introduced, and the code of conduct was presented to the audience by Mr. Dilusha Dasanayake, the coordinator of RealHack 2.0 and the crowd dispersed for the lunch break.
The Hackathon commenced after the lunch break and the problem statement was given to the finalists. The teams were given the challenge of proposing and implementing a software solution for a real-time question and answer site. The Hackathon was conducted in 5 milestones and the progress of each team was evaluated at the end of each milestone throughout the Hackathon. During the Hackathon, a time slot was allocated for a company presentation by Insharp Technologies, the Gold Sponsor of RealHack 2.0.
As the hackathon took place for over 24 hours, the organizers provided necessary equipment such as carrom boards, gaming computers and table tennis equipment for teams that wished to take a break. There were also entertainment items such as dances and singing.
