Biography:

Dr. Haroon Rashid is an engineer, researcher, lecturer and trainer. Currently, he is attached with Photonics Research Centre (An HICoE - Higher Institution Centre of Excellence) of University of Malaya as Research Fellow. He completed his postgraduate studies with PhD in Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) - Malaysia, M.Sc. in Microelectronics Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) - Malaysia, B.Eng. (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Sunderland (UOS) - United Kingdom and B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Punjab - Pakistan. He has worked with various highly reputed organizations and institutions of higher learning locally and abroad.

He is an active member and volunteer of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) - USA, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) - United Kingdom and National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) - Pakistan. He is the Chair (Educational Activities) of IEEE Young Professionals Malaysia, Vice Chair of IEEE Consultants Network Malaysia, Founding Leader of IEEE Malaysia Section Blockchain Group and Executive Committee of IEEE Professional Activities Committee of Engineers (PACE), Malaysia. He has been a mentor of various undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has given several talks and trainings on different topics at various organizations as invited speaker. His current research interests are in the areas of novel 2D-TMD materials for optoelectronic applications, thin films fabrication and characterization, solar photovoltaic, nanotechnology, renewable energy applications, photonic devices, VLSI and IC fabrication.
