Topic:

Addressing the testing challenges of today’s Power Semiconductors and Systems.

For the Dec. 12th meeting Mike Hawes, Power Solution Consultant, Automotive & Energy Solutions, Keysight Technologies, Inc., will discuss the Power Semiconductor market, technology and test.  This segment of the technology is transforming rapidly.  Mike will describe the end markets (EV, alternative energy, etc.) driving the growth in Power Semis, the challenges in the market and the challenges for testing in all segments of the design process including EMC.

Biography:

Mike Hawes has worked for Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies and Keysight Technologies for over 35 years.  He has had many different engineering and management jobs, primarily focused on automotive test, wireless handset test and Power/Energy applications.  Many of Mike’s positions were project based working directly with major accounts, for example Intel PC Motherboard manufacturing process test, Siemens automotive body control module test, Boeing aircraft test and most recently with an Energy/EV vehicle company in the USA.  He led many of these projects, as well as contributed to the technical design, development and installation of the test solutions.

Recently he was the R&D Planning Manager for Automotive and Energy Solutions, focused on power applications.  He led a team of Solution Architects, who work with leading companies in their industry to develop new innovative test solutions.  The focus of the team was Grid-edge test applications (e.g. solar inverter test), EV test applications (e.g. power converter test), Power Semiconductor test (focusing on Wide Bandgap applications).  Mike recently changed roles to provide power solution consulting for Keysight’s Automotive and Energy customers.
