This presentation will provide an overview on the decommissioning of OPPD’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. Topics will include the decision to shut down FCS, the options and phases of decommissioning, and highlights of the milestones and activities involved with decommissioning of the site.

Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station - Decommissioning Status

Biography:

Megan Walker is the Manager of Nuclear Engineering at OPPD’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. She leads a technical team in preparing decommissioning engineering changes, which support projects such as electrical footprint reduction and system/building abandonments. With OPPD for eight years, her previous roles have included Electrical/Instrumentation & Control System Engineer and then Supervisor with a focus on equipment reliability. Megan has a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Walden University, a M.B.A. from UNO, and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with the American Cancer Society and spending time with her husband, Chris, and twins, Hayden and Blake.
