Helping Hands
As Mahatma Gandhi once said 'The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others'. So, as to help others and commemorate the 71st Indian Republic Day IEEE MVSR WIE Student Chapter had taken an initiative to visit the orphanage named Safe Charitable Foundation, a non-profitable organisation and spend time with a group of 30 young girls residing there.
The initiation of this was taken by Miss Pratyusha IEEE MVSR WIE Chairperson, the team of volunteers organised and implement the event successfully under her guidance with the help of IEEE MVSR SB Counsellor Dr D. Hari Krishna.
The evening started with a warm welcome from the orphan girls and their caretaker/organiser Mr Prasad Rao, who explained to us how they support and maintain the orphanage. All the girls were extremely active, enthusiastic and friendly.
The evening commenced with a game of Tambola(Indian Bingo), wherein all the girls and volunteers were equally active. Following this was the game pin the tail of the pig, where we placed a diagram of a pig without its tail and the girls were asked to draw it blindfolded. The girls were divided into two teams, so as to make sure everyone had a chance to participate and thus also understood team management.
Later the girls sang along with our performer, we all listened to the tunes of melody. Following which, Dr D Hari Krishna had given a session on republic day. All the volunteers interacted with the girls and tried to understand their struggles, dreams and aspirations as much as possible. The girls enthralled everyone with their dance.
Sadly, the evening had to end and to complete the evening the winners of the games conducted were distributed prizes, which consisted of stationery articles and books. The girls were then distributed chocolates and sweets. Although we were sad to live them, it was heartwarming to see their goodbye song for. We bid them adieu with a promise to return again and spend some quality time
