Plasma technology & its impact in Society
IEEE EDS Nepal Chapter organized a talk program in association with Nepal Physical Society on “ Plasma Technology and its Impact in Society”. Dr. Arun Kumar Sharm, Faculry of VIT University, Chennai, India delivered the talk.
According to him, PLASMA, the 4th state of matter has been playing important scientific role not only in basic sciences but also in many applications. Although the main goal in plasma physics research is to create artificial ‘SUN’ on earth using ‘Nuclear Fusion’, plasma has entered in many industries through its technological development. For example, it is providing massive inputs to the ‘Automotive’ industry through ‘thin film and coating technology’. It also provides new technological tools to the ‘Textile industry’, ‘Defense industry’, Aviation sector’, ‘Waste management’, 3-D printing technology’, ‘Agriculture and water purification technology’, ‘Electronics industry’, ‘Digital technology’ etc. Immense technological development through plasma led many private Industries to invest huge money in recent years. Besides this, plasma science & Technology provides inter-disciplinary approaches in research including physics, chemistry, mathematics and various engineering branches. Recent technological development in plasma science and technology would be covered in this presentation with some important applications.
The program was started at 11AM on 5th July, 2019 at PT Hall, Ascal Campus, Kathmandu.Total participants were 30 including students, faculty and 5 IEEE members. Large nember of questions were asked specially by MSc Physics students and Dr. Sharma has answered all questions satisfactorily.
