1. Ratification of minutes of the last executive committee meeting (Oct 05, 2013).

The minutes of the last executive committee meeting were ratified.

2. Announcement by Chairman, IEEE UP Section.

Chairman, IEEE UP Section briefed to the committee about his visit to AGM and Execom meetings of IEEE India Council. He also informed that IEEE UP Section has signed the MoU with G-IEEE for money transaction between IEEE headquarter and UP Section.

3. Formation of WIE affinity Group and its convener.

Chairman informed the committee members about IEEE initiatives on Woman in Engineering

(WIE) affinity group. Committee showed the interest to have good participation in this group from

UP Section. Dr. Rajesh Gupta, MNNIT Allahabad has been given responsibility to find the

interested members for this group and its convener.

4. Membership Drive activities: issues and challenge.

Chairman gave the overview about the membership development in UP Section. The growth of

membership is good but not very significant as compared to other sections within India. Dr. Dilip

Kumar Sharma and Dr. Munesh Chandra Trivedi have been given the responsibility to increase the

membership drive in UP Section.

5. ABES Engineering college is organizing “National Conference on Computer Intelligence and

Robotics (NICCIR-14)” during April 11-12, 2014. They have requested to IEEE UP Section for

financial support of Rs. 1,050,000/- and use of IEEE logo for this conference.

IEEE UP Section will provide the travel support for invited speakers only, up to a

maximum amount of Rs. 30,000/-, on production of actual bills. Organizer can use the

IEEE logo and they are supposed to write “Financially co-sponsored by IEEE UP

Section” at bottom of IEEE logo. Committee has also requested the organizer to maintain the quality of papers in conference.

6. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is organizing student technical festival “Techkriti” during

March 6-9, 2014. They have requested for technical sponsorship for event called Eureka

(technical paper presentation event).

IEEE UP section will provide technical sponsorship for this event and approved the financial

support upto Rs. 10,000/- to organizer for membership concession of IEEE members. Organizers

have to submit the details about the concessions to the IEEE Members (membership numbers and

concessions). Techkriti team may take the help of IEEE UP Section execom members for the

events.

7. MNNIT Allahabad is organizing “International Conference on Power Control and Embeded

Systems (ICPCES) 2014” during Nov. 13-15, 2014. They have requested for technical

sponsorship from IEEE UP Section.

IEEE UP Section will provide the technical sponsorship for ICPCES-2014. Organisers

are requested to initiate the process of signing MoU with UP Section.

8. IEEE joint society chapter of IE/PEL/CS requested for release of funds for conducting regular

activities for the year 2013 and 2014.

Concerned Society Chapter has submitted the financial report for year 2012. They have been

requested to submit the financial report for year 2013 to Section to get it reimbursed from Section.

Rs. 30,000/- is approved for supporting their activities in year 2014.

9. Ratification of technical sponsorship provided by IEEE UP Section joint society chapter of

IE/PEL/CS to “3rd Students’ Conference on Engineering and Systems (SCES-2014)” during May

28-30, 2014 at MNNIT Allahabad. They have requested for financial support from IEEE UP

Section.

IEEE UP Section will provide the travel support for student branch counselors/members

only (one from each student branch), up to a maximum amount of Rs. 30,000/-, on

production of actual bills. Organizer will be requested to communicate with student

branches to have more participation in this conference and IEEE activities.

10. G.L. Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management, Greater Noida is organizing “International

Conference on Medical Imaging and m-Healh Services (MedCom-2014)” during Nov 7-8, 2013.

They have requested for technical sponsorship from IEEE UP Section.

Committee has deferred this case for next meeting and asked the organizer to provide the detail of

TPC. It seems that it is first conference for organizer, therefore, the technical sponsorship can be

provided but the accepted paper will not appear on IEEE xplore. Organizers may be invited to

provide the details during the next execom meeting.

11. Announcement of slate for IEEE UP Section 2014 by Prof. YN Singh, Chairman Nomination
