Introduction to GitHub

IEEE CS SBC VCE organized a session on 26​th October 2019 with 2​nd year students as participants from CSE branch.

The session was hosted by Mr. Akhil Aduvala Chairperson of IEEE CS SBC VCE and presided by Mr. Kanukuntla ChandraShekar, CTO of Publishsutra Technologies, volunteer at IEEE CS SBC VCE.

The session was held for about 3 hours i.e., 9:45am to 12:45pm involving the discussion about open source development and hands-on session to introduce GITHUB.

1. To provide a clear idea about open source development and how GITHUB plays a major role in hosting our code.
2. To introduce GITHUB accounts to students, creating repositories and launching name.com account.

BODY OF THE SESSION​

The session was started by Mr. Akhil Aduvala Chairperson of IEEE CS SBC VCE welcoming the students and addressing the gathering and also appreciating their interest towards attending the session. Mr. kanukuntla Chandra Shekar shared the knowledge regarding open source development and how GITHUB is best in the track to host our code and work together with a friend, colleague or even a Stranger.

Later hands-on session started for GITHUB account creation, adding new repositories and also hosting for software development version control using git is explained and done by the participants. Our volunteers helped students in clarifying their doubts and account creation and hosting part.

Students were very much satisfied by the session as they successfully created their GITHUB accounts and some of them even completed the hosting part, we received positive feedback from the students and their views about GITHUB session.

OUTCOME OF THE SESSION

All the participants were very happy listening from Mr. Kanukuntla ChandraShekar, and they are eager as they were able to create their own GITHUB accounts and learned about the open source development and the role GITHUB plays in connecting to the world of professionals written codes.
