A webinar on "MMIC Technologies for Space and Defence Applications: an Indian perspective"
Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) are key enablers for the ever shrinking defence and space systems. Their small size, multifunction capability enables possibility of realizing previously un-imaginable RF systems with higher SWAP index (Size Weight and Power), high redundancy and easy maintainability. In this talk we take a look at the semiconductor technologies naturally apt for defence and space applications due to their harsh environments, long lifetime requirements. We discuss the world scenario of these technologies and the status review of Indian research and manufacturing in this niche technology area. Touching base on various semiconductor device technologies, the talk would focus on GaAs pHEMT and GaN HEMT technologies and their applications.
