The above Webinar will have 2 parts. The Part-1 will be Q&A on SSTs. Then Part-2 will be a Talk by the Invited Speaker on “other New Power Electronic Technologies”.
In the entire Webinar, the Q&A session will be for about 30 to 45 Minutes and Talk Session by the Invited Speaker will be for about 30 Minutes.
Part-1: Q&A Session on “Solid State Transformers and their Applications ….”
This Webinar is arranged to give sufficient opportunity to the participants to interact with the Expert Speaker, Dr.Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy, who already gave an excellent lecture in our earlier Webinar on “Solid State Transformers (SSTs) and their Application in Offshore Energy Systems”/ on 15-May-2020/ Friday/ 5.30 to 7.30 PM. In the above webinar there were many questions from the participants, but these could not be answered due to shortage of time. So, we are arranging this Interactive session with the same Expert, Dr.Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy, for getting answers to questions of the Participants who attended the last Webinar on SSTs.
In this Q&A Session, new participants will also be given opportunity to ask questions to the Speaker on SSTs.

Part-2: Talk on Other New Power Electronic Technologies
In this Webinar, the Expert Speaker, Dr.Harish S Krishnamoorthy, will give a brief talk on “other New Power Electronic Technologies”, where India should focus to build its capabilities. Some of these Technologies include New generation Power Semi-Conductor devices of the Wide Band Gap (WBG) Semiconductors type, which are based on materials like Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN). These New generation WBG Power Semiconductor Devices facilitate higher power efficiency, smaller size, lighter weight, lower overall cost – either only few of these features or all of these features simultaneously. These WBG Devices are now commercially available in the form of IGBTS/ MOSFETS/ and others.
After this talk, Q&A will be taken up for limited questions and balance questions will be sent to the speaker by mail. His replies will be forwarded to the concerned participant.

Dr. Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy received his Bachelor of Technology degree from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli, India and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the ECE department, Texas A&M University, College Station, USA; in 2008 and 2015, respectively. From Jun. 2008 to Jul. 2010, he worked as an Electronics Engineer with GE Energy, Hyderabad, India and received the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification there. From Apr. 2015 to July 2017, he was an Electrical Engineer with Schlumberger REMS, Sugar Land, TX, USA. He has also worked at Ford Motor Company and Google Inc. Since Aug. 2017, Dr. Krishnamoorthy has been an Assistant Professor in the ECE department of University of Houston. He has published over 40 IEEE conference and journal papers; and has one granted patent. He has also co-authored a book chapter under IET. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an executive member of PELS, IES and IAS societies. He is the Chair of IEEE PELS Young Professionals for 2020 – 2021. He is also an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics (TPEL).
His research interests are: High density power conversion; statistical methods and machine learning for improvement in quality and reliability of power electronics, advanced power electronics and control for applications such as downhole (sub-sea and land), electric vehicles, renewable energy, communication, etc
